Gift wrapping seems stressful at first, with pressure to make your existing gift aesthetic on the outside as well as within. Here are quick ways to make that easier!
It only takes 3 easy steps to upgrade your gifts into eye candy and photo worthy presents, before their true value is even unwrapped to it's potential! Continue reading to learn more!
“Black wrapping paper! And the brown with the pine! So chic!!"
First: Pick Your Backdrop
Wrapping can realistically be quite easy, if you keep your backdrop (the wrapping paper) simple and in the same color scheme. This means not spending a fortune, but sticking with black, craft paper (brown), or white paper. These can be found at your local craft store or dollar store!
Another fun activity is having one simple accent pattern! My favorite time to look for those is after the holidays, or on sale at home stores. There's always a fun pattern to add some spice and match the personality of the event or gift.
Second: Make it Your Own
The paper is not limited to simplicity of what you purchase it as. This second step can be done before or after wrapping your gift, but it's time to decorate! Here are some ideas:
Try taking some white or colorful paint and splattering it with a tooth brush.
Use the back of a pencil and dip it into paint as polka dots.
If it's the holidays, you can even paint little triangles or simplified trees!
Dip a corner of the gift in glitter for some glam.
Have confetti or colored scraps from parties or projects? Stick them on as a pattern!
Third: Final Touch Time
Imagine a picture of a gift, one that would be on a poster in a store in the holidays, what do you see? A giant bow right? Some ribbon maybe? Don't let that limit you, there are more options to make your gift fancy!
Here are some fun and quick ideas to upgrade your gift:
Bakers twine, embroidery floss, or string. It's pretty similar to a ribbon, but gives a rustic touch that's trendy. You can even layer string over ribbon for more color. This doesn't have to be expensive, string can be found for at the dollar store or craft stores.
Fun ornaments or little objects to add the personal touch. I love buying the teeny ornaments after the holidays or fun ones that match my friend's personalities to add to the front of a present! You can of course just make a tag, but this adds a special touch.
Forage outdoors or find seasonal dried flowers, fruits, or plants. Adding some dried eucalyptus, dried flowers, or dried oranges add such a pretty and handmade touch.
See, it's easy! It seems complicated, but the most complex part was you finding the gift, making it right for your loved ones, and expressing your affections to those people in the first place! Everything else is really for the aesthetic, but why not have fun with it and make eye candy your appetizer before the main course gift. Aight! Terrible metaphors aside, I hope you enjoyed!
